The Triune God

At the heart of the Christian faith is the mystery and majesty of the Trinity. We believe in one God who eternally exists in three persons—God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Each person is fully God, equal in essence, power, and glory, yet distinct in role and relationship. Together, they work in perfect unity to accomplish God’s plan of creation, redemption, and eternal life.

God the Father

God the Father is the eternal source of all things. He is spirit (John 4:24), invisible (1 Timothy 1:17), and sovereign over all creation (Psalm 103:19). As the first person of the Trinity, He reigns with wisdom, justice, and love.

  • The Father of Creation – He spoke the world into existence and upholds it by His power (Genesis 1:1; Acts 17:24–25).
  • The Father of Israel – He chose Israel as His covenant people, demonstrating His faithfulness and mercy (Deuteronomy 32:6; Isaiah 63:16).
  • The Father of Jesus Christ – He is uniquely the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, His “only begotten Son,” sharing His divine nature (John 1:14; Matthew 3:17).
  • The Father of Believers – Through faith in Christ, He adopts sinners into His family, granting them the privilege of calling Him “Abba, Father” (John 1:12; Romans 8:15–16).

God the Father reveals His holiness, mercy, and love through His Son and His Word, inviting all people into a restored relationship with Himself.

God the Son – Jesus Christ

God the Son, the second person of the Trinity, is coequal and coeternal with the Father and the Spirit. He is fully God and fully man, the only Savior and Redeemer.

  • Eternal and Divine – Jesus is the eternal Word who was with God and is God (John 1:1–3; Colossians 1:15–17).
  • The Incarnate Son – Through the virgin birth, He became flesh and dwelt among us, living a sinless life in perfect obedience to the Father (Isaiah 7:14; John 1:14; Philippians 2:6–8).
  • The Savior – On the cross, He bore the punishment for our sins, offering forgiveness and reconciliation with God. His bodily resurrection demonstrates His victory over sin and death (1 Corinthians 15:3–4; Romans 5:8).
  • The Lord and Mediator – Jesus now sits at the right hand of the Father, interceding for believers and serving as the one Mediator between God and man (Romans 8:34; 1 Timothy 2:5; Hebrews 7:25).
  • The Returning King – He will return in glory to judge the world, establish His kingdom, and reign forever (Matthew 24:30; Revelation 19:11–16; Titus 2:13).

Through Jesus Christ, the eternal Son, we see God’s love displayed, His truth revealed, and His salvation offered to all who believe.

God the Holy Spirit

God the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, is fully God, coequal and coeternal with the Father and the Son. He is not an impersonal force but a divine person who works powerfully in the world and in the lives of believers.

  • The Giver of Life – The Spirit was active in creation and continues to give and sustain life (Genesis 1:2; Job 33:4).
  • The Inspirer of Scripture – He guided the prophets and apostles to write God’s Word, ensuring it is truth without error (2 Peter 1:21; 2 Timothy 3:16).
  • The Convicter of Sin – He draws people to Christ by convicting the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:7–8).
  • The Indweller of Believers – At salvation, the Spirit takes up residence in the believer, sealing them as God’s own and empowering them for holy living (Romans 8:9–11; Ephesians 1:13–14).
  • The Giver of Gifts – He equips every believer with spiritual gifts for the building up of the church (1 Corinthians 12:4–7; Ephesians 4:11–12).
  • The Guide and Comforter – He teaches, leads, comforts, and assures believers of their salvation (John 14:26; Romans 8:16; Galatians 5:16).

The Holy Spirit’s work is to glorify Christ, sanctify believers, and advance God’s mission through the church.

One God in Three Persons

Though each person of the Trinity is distinct, they are never divided. The Father planned salvation, the Son accomplished it, and the Spirit applies it to believers’ lives. This unity of purpose demonstrates God’s perfect harmony and love.

📖 “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” — Matthew 28:19

📖 “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.” — 2 Corinthians 13:14

In Summary

We worship one God in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—each fully divine, working together in perfect unity. This triune God is our Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer, worthy of our trust, obedience, and praise forever.
